If Australia did what you said, then without knowing the exact circumstances, it sounds like they would be in breach of international maritime law and, yes, imo that is inhumane. The individuals interviewed in the video sound quite reasonable. Indeed, one mentioned that the accommodation might be sub-standard. It also sounds like communication with the local community could have been a lot better. Nevertheless, what it boils down to in effect is NIMBY. Ask anyone, 'Do you want a prison, motorway, housing estate, drug rehabilitation centre, migrant centre, etc built next door to you?' and 99% of people will reply, 'No'.
