Stereotypical Rawai

The colloqial name for Rawai in yon parts is "God's Waiting Room".

Just got back from an evening out in Rawai and Chalong. Very quiet and at 50 years old, I'm still within the youngest 50% of the customers in most bars.

Went to a Chav bar in Rawai and felt totally naked as the only bloke without a tattoo. Extra points if you have a shaved head. Triple points if you are wearing a "wife-beater" T-shirt.

Saw loads of retirees with much younger wives, not swapping a word in half-an-hour. Very sad.

The place is definitely going down hill.

Try more than a night, admitted there are a lot of old farts with pony tails that are really sad, having been here for two years there is a great night life that is far more fun than most of Phuket, you have to look for it though.

Laid back, no hassles from katoeys, but still there if that is your thing.

We are gentle folk here. The patong thing does nothing for us, we go out for a drink, socialise with whoever and go home.

Try looking around without a snap judgement

So, the tattooed wife-beater wearing skinheads are older than you too?

Vote with your feet!

Rawai is for people with admitted alcohol problems, and have nagging thai wife.

People who claim they hate patong because of all the sex trade going on and bad tourists, and complain they do have to go there sometime to introduce Thailand to visitors.

People whom spue hel_l if they have to pay more than 50 baht for a beer.

People living in Rawai do actually live at the end of the road.

People living in Rawai have their western spouse with them, and beat up any tourist who dare to even look at their glamour pride (bride).

People living in Rawai do think that thai people actually like them and respect them as humans.

Hilarious MC, although I think you're not actually correct or 100% factual, but it makes for good reading.

Actually Rawai has two shifts of party people.  The first shift is the blue hair crowd that can be seen at freedom bar and the likes for the 35 baht tiger.  The second shift is the much younger crowd of muay thai tourists and other young foreign tourists that can be seen at the late night spots dancing and having a great time.  Perhaps some of the wives of the first shift people ( the hubbies who are asleep by 9 p.m.) step out to meet the second shift as the late night spots have no shortage of females.

Rawai has something for everyone!

I think some of you guys are drinking at the wrong bars. We were drinking at a "popular" Rawai bar last night with friends, plenty of chatting going on and none of us have Thai partners. Sure, there were some other couples there with some Thai GFs in tow but all chatting, having a pleasant time - AND I didn't see one tattoo either.

Yeah, somebody is bored.

I live in Rawai and frequent 3 or 4 places.

I usually know someone at each of them and that is why i go.

My (Thai) wife prefers to do her drinking at home with our neighbors which i sometime's join also.

Although I think tatoo's are a little wierd, I don't feel any need for putting down those who have them (or shaved heads)

What do you care SB, what we locals in Rawai do for our socializing?

My neighbors here all know each other, and usually greet each other everyday, help each other out, and invite each other to our parties, social events, etc. We help feed each others dogs, cats, and kids. Can you say the same?

Or are you one of those farangs with the big wall around your house.

I know I should not say that all you folks down there are as I described in my post, there some good and intresting people there too, but you are the ones who dunno that you are actually are lost, took a wrong turn further up the road.

Do you want me to turn on my green laser beam, so you can find your way back? :o

You wouldn't have to ask if you'd have shown up at the TV party a few months ago.

Some of us aren't afraid to let others see who we are.

Others prefer to hide behind a computer screen.

Some of us actually have to work for a living.

Afraid? Hide? Bit melodramatic?

Do they hand out medals at the TV parties? If so, I might come to the next one......
