A Few Questions About Thai Visas

Featured Replies

Hey Guys,Ive got a couple of questions that i cant find the answers to anywhere else. Right well here goes,

I plan on leaving my home in Ireland and staying in thailand maybe for 9-10 weeks and then moving on to Australia for a year, Im aware that if i get a single entry tourist visa it will last 60 days with the option of a further 30 days, but is it ok for me to arrive in thailand with a 1 way ticket?, and then booking my oz ticket in Thailand maybe on my 8-9th week over there. You see my concern with this is that my visa would be due to run out after 8 weeks, while the oz flight i would like to book would be for the 9th week over there. So would it be a problem when i arrive at the Bangkok airport with a visa for 8 weeks and a flight onwards out of the country after 9 weeks, even though ive every intention of doing a border run once the visa is close to expiry

If you have a Thai tourist visa in your passport, you will have no problems with boarding a flight, and no worries about your ticket to OZ being 9 weeks away.

And you can indeed extend your intial 60 days, for a further 30 days at the nearest immigration office inside Thailand for 1900 baht. Or indeed do a visa run, if you are close to a border, it might be cheaper to do that.

Next time, you might want to post this in the Thai visa forum instead of other countries :o

Moved to the Thai visas and residency sub-forum.

Scouse.

No problem for ticket question. If you have a visa an onward ticket is not required.

60 days plus 30 day extension and border run sounds like a good plan.

When I checked recently it was a lot cheaper (almost 100GBP) to buy a 'Bangkok to Melbourne,Australia' ticket from a UK travel agent than it was from either a local Thai or Australian travel agent/airline. You might want to check with Irish travel agents first.
