The Best And Safest Brand Name Baby Formulas..

Featured Replies

Hello,

Our two week old son Groucho is currently being breast fed and we plan on continuing with this method as long as possible. Although because of my wife's sore teats we would like to feed him formula once in a while to allow her breast to heal and recover somewhat.

The hospital gave us a can of Similac Advance and before attempting to use it I'd like your recommendations and experiences with brands that you are using or have used. I went to the Similac website looking for information regarding Melamine contamination, there was no statement on this issue. I just sent them an email requesting their company statement about the Melamine issue.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Groucho and mother doing fine.

Thanks in advance,

Ask 10 different parents and you will probably get 10 different answers as to "The best formula for your baby.". My wife breast feeds our 3 month old son, but we always keep some formula on hand. I only give him "Enfalac A+ "which is made by mead Johnson in the US. He tolerates this formula very well and it is safe. It is a little pricey, but well worth it for the little one.

Google search "baby formula". There is a wealth of information out there. Stay away from the obvious. (Any milk product coming out of China)

Hi Orangutan,

I've been feeding Similac to my daughter since she was 4 mths old (she's 17mths now), it's US company but made in Thailand, she's been fine on it but I'd be interested on what the company has to say on the melamine issue too if you wouldn't mind sharing the info when you get it?!

Thx

Hi! I b/feed my son for 13months but around 6months old, doc suggest we alternate breast milk and formula for a month. We tried Nan but baby had constipation after drinking it. Similac was the other option that the doc suggested and baby had no problems with that.

As for melamine, I did a search in google and read about some companies in Thailand which used milk powder from China but there's no mention of Similac.

Anyway since my son is now 16months old we're giving him whole milk now.

We accepted a powdered milk product for our baby from the hospital (can't remember name), however our baby didn't take to it at all. We done a little research on the products found on the shelves in places like Big C and Tesco Lotus, and chose the Mead Johnson Enfagrow A+ system. He takes the milk with little to no trouble at all, unlike the other brand we tried first.

Also, we checked with Mead Johnson regarding the milk powder scare from China, and their products are fine, as also stated on their web site.

As Mizzi said; it costs a little bit more, not by much though, and personally I'm very happy with our choice.

Hope that helps.
