October 18, 200817 yr There was a lot of media attention earlier this year and last year about KFC then McDonalds then Burger King going trans fat free in America but I can't find any information about whether they've done the same in Thailand. Have they made the switch over here or are they still frying in the same trans fat/wax that not even Americans will eat anymore.
October 18, 200817 yr I assume they have NOT made this change internationally. They are all about profits and what tastes best and is the most addictive for young people, so I think they need to be led kicking and screaming to do the right thing. I would be glad to hear I am wrong about this.
October 18, 200817 yr Author I found this about McDonalds: The company said it also has upheld its commitment to significantly reduce the amount of trans fat in its restaurants around the world, reducing it to less than 0.5 grams per serving in Europe, Latin America and its Asia Pacific-Middle East-Africa division. The four exceptions are Colombia, Japan, Ukraine and Venezuela, where McDonald’s is still working toward its reduction goals. As for the others, you're right - unless they've made a specific announcement it's best to assume they've made no change.

If you look at the other threads on this one, you'll see the people here don't seem to mind risking heart attacks in the immediate future.
October 18, 200817 yr Unfortunately alot of the TransFat-Free PR is basically just about decreasing the serving size, as servings with less than 0.5 grams as zero (0) http://www.cfsan.fda.gov/~dms/qatrans2.html#s3q3
