Student Visa - Going To A New School

Featured Replies

Our son finished his High School last month and has been accepted by a university in Bangkok. He now needs to change his student visa for the new school. Can anyone tell us what the process is?

So far we were told:

1. The university needs a letter saying that our son is no longer attends his high school.

2. The university told us to get this letter from his old high school.

3. When we called the high school they said Jomtien Immigration needs to issue this letter.

Can we just go to the Jomtien Immigration and tell them that he has been accepted by a university in Bangkok and need a letter saying he No Longer attends the old high school?

We're afraid Jomtien Immigration will in turn tell us to go back to his high school first to get the letter of cancellation and will end of in a wild goose chase.

So anyone has done this before, we would appreciate what information you can share with us.

Thanks

This is possibly not directly related to visas, but I think even Thai students need some sort of letter from their old school when undertaking studies somewhere else?!?.. :o

My daughter just changed schools and her visa expired 1 week ago. Immigration said under 14 years there will be no late fines etc. But needed a letter from old school confirming she had finished there, plus all the usual from the new school.
