Hotmail Through Firefox

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I hope somebody has the answer to my problem. When i'm using my hotmail account with firefox, for some reason i only have the option of attaching files. I know i can still use this option to attach photos but it is not as fast and convenient as having the option of attaching photos. Has anyone else had this problem, and is there a way to enable the photo uploader.

Regards Attached,

microsoft annoying policy to force you to use their browser.

Microsoft apparently has the worst web developers on Earth, or they just like to give everyone that impression. You'll have to use IE with most MS sites for them to render properly and have all of the tools available to you.

Likewise, when I'm accessing my Hotmail through Firefox, the "REPLY" function is often missing. :o

I'm just about ready to close down my hotmail account (which I seldom use, anyway).

Thank for the answers guys. I thought it might have been a setting somewhere in firefox, i must have spent more than a hour browsing through internet options and firefox addons before i decided to post.

Many thanks.

Why don't you set up Outlook Express to poll your Hotmail account ?

Outlook Express is free and comes with most Windows installations.

But I agree with the other OP's, Micro$oft pretty much wants you to use THEIR BROWSER with their MAIL SERVICE.

Too late - if he hasn't been using OE to get his mail before now, he won't be able to do it unless he pays for the service.

MS stopped free access for new users in, I believe, 2005.

Thanks, did not know that. I guess it was when they started "Live Mail"

Yes, I believe it's all tied in somehow. I think the Windows Live Mail utility was created to encourage people away from using Outlook Express so M$ (forgive my previous typo :o) can do away with the DAV protocol which is what OE uses.

And when they tried to force OE users to switch to WLM earlier this year, there was such an outcry that they backtracked. Windows Live Mail looks identical to OE in a lot of its configuration windows (because they've re-used old OE code, I'm sure), but it is full of bugs and limitations that OE doesn't have.

It's a real pigs ear. If they don't get it up to the standard of reliability of OE when they finally withdraw the DAV protocol, I'll be switching to "Thunderbird" to pick up my email.
