Mantle Cell Lymphoma

Featured Replies

On having a lump removed in july bi-opsy said malignant

Further bi-opsy identified MCL.

Home in Oz a variety of tests conducted.Treatment 3 weeks radiotherapy.

Mid December back to Thailand but will need a follow up tests:

CT Scan & PET Scan in March 09 (approx) does anyone know if these tests are available in Thailand in particular in Issan?

Available in Thailand yes, but PET not in Isaan and CT in Isaan limited options (e.g. government hospitals, long waits/bureacracy) and often not best quality.

Plan on Bangkok.

The following hospitals can do both tests and also have large cancer centers with Western trained specialists:

Bangkok Hospital

website: www.bangkokhospital.com

Bumrungrad Hospital

www.bumrungrad.com

Worthwhile to email ahead and compare prices. There are less expensive (but also less English-speaking) hospitals for the CT than these but probably not for the PET. In any case besides having the tests you want a good specialist to read the results so I'd stick with one of the above places. Review their find-a-doctor functions on their websites to identify a specialist.

good luck

Sheryl thanks for that --In Khon Kaen there is the KK RAM a private hospital which is where the initial removal was carried out and also there is a major heart hospital (name escapes me for the moment) and for some reason I seem to think there was a major cancer hospital in Udon Thani but so far your advice is where I will probably go as long as they can then forward the results to OZ for a second reading.

I am also victim of MCL. Been fighting it for two years, this month. I have been working with the doctors at the Cancer National Institute. I am schedduled for PET in December. A three month wait. Hope you have better luck.
