Playing Mp4 Files On A Sony Psp

Featured Replies

I've searched the forum but I can only find 1 posting about a Sony PSP playing MP4 files.

Has any member tried playing files on a Sony PSP? I thought I could simply load the files onto a PSP memory card using a card reader but, when I then try to access the files, my PSP comes up with the message "no video".

Do I have to convert MP4 files into a PSP version of MP4 or do I have to load the files with a USB lead or whatever?

Any help would be appreciated.

One of Sony's many brilliant moves in crippling the PSP's video functionality was to insist on an opaque and inflexible file system for movies on the Memory Stick; if a video file isn't named "M4V1000number.mp4" and located in the \MP_ROOT\100MNV01 directory, your PSP will pretend it doesn't exist. Luckily, PSP Video 9.0 (or later) allows you to customize the titles of your converted movies, so you can tell them apart without worrying about sifting through a sea of random letters and numbers.

easiest way to do it is to use the SUPER converter to convert your movie for you. Just select the output as PSP video. It would also name the file accordingly to how PSP wants it to be. Easy to use and best of all SUPER is free.
