Visa For On-the-job Training

Featured Replies

Hi to all!

my friend (an HRM student) in the Philippines would like to do his on-the-job training here in Bangkok. The contact company here in Thailand is not a problem. They're willing to have him for three months. The company (as well as my friend) just don't know what are the exact legal steps for my friend to have his OJT here in Bangkok.

I am aware that this type of OJT happens also in some countries. Some students did their OJT in Singapore.

Anyone who can help us have the meaningful information regarding this?

Thanks a lot!

Non-imm B and a work permit...

I do not think so.

He is not working here, no pay from some Thai company.

I think a tourist 60 day + one extension will do.

The OP says he wants to be legal, therefore needs a work permit, he is doing on the job training, doesnt matter whether getting paid or not.

Wrong - Thai labour law still considers you as working, even if you are not remunerated.

So a non immgrant B visa and a work permit are required.

Not allways true. I beleive that if you are an intern you don't need a WP as it is considered part of your education. Problem for the OP is that his educational institution is not in Thailand, so he probably can't make use of this rule and will need a WP.
