Tax Office And 1 Year Immigration Extension

Featured Replies

Hi all on the board,

as i went through the posts here i made myself an idea about 40000 a month average(480000 a year minimum) tax for immigration reasons. But some areas are still greys to me.I wonder if anyone has experience on these topics.

First a brief outlook on myself.

47 year old, registered a Thai partnership with Thai wife, real business but just started and far off the 40000 a month mark.Accountant to pay every month.

Now i gather from many that all you need to show for at immigration is the last 3 months of tax receipts of 40000 a month in order to obtain a new 1 year extension. Many got their thai wife to do so,and here is the conundrum to me.

1)Does this means that tax office does not ask for accountancy records? If so anyone in Thailand could declare what he/she fancies at the tax office and skip on taxes or pay more.

2)From what i understand the Thai wifes in question on the forum are sole proprietorship business owners,if the Thai wife is in a Thai partnership with her farang husband would it make any difference to the tax office, would they ask for accountancy records for the last 3 months?

3)I undestand that 150000 are dedactable, plus 15000 for each child plus 30000 for each grandparent being looked after. How does this fit in the last 3 months tax to show to immigration?

many thanks for any suggestion.

A bewildered farang :o

From some reports I have seen they just went to the tax office and declared 480,000 baht income for the entire year the tax office asked a few questions did the calcualtions and they paid the tax.

I don't think you can just do it just for 3 months though.

Apparently they didn't ask for any proof or anything else.

Your case it might be different though since you have formed a company. You might talk to your accountant about it. If your company was able to pay a salary to you or your wife or even both you might be able to pay the tax monthly as a deduction from your salary.

I don't think the tax office cares about the proof unless you were trying to hide income. But when you just walk in and declare an income apparently no questions asked.

If you want to go to immigration to get an extension based on family and you are working in a partnership, then they will want to see your work permit, company papers, audited accounts, plus your tax returns.

1) The tax office will accept your payments, but you will need a Tax ID and of course a work permit.

2) Same as 1) above.

3) When you check the Tax Dept numbers, remember that these are annual tax allowances, not monthly figures.

Yes,deductions from income are on a yearly basis.

However i've seen members on the boards stating that they got their wives to pay income tax for the last 3 months as evidence for immigration. Can anyone who had his wife doing so please tell me more in detail?

Regards
