Baby trapped in car prompts urgent rescue in Bank car park in Jomtien.

Over the weekend there was drama at the Car park of the Siam Commercial Bank main Branch located on Jomtien Beach. Reports came in of a young child who was locked inside a car which had pulled into the car park following a minor road accident nearby. Sawang Boriboon Rescue Workers arrived and became concerned that the child may suffocate due to the high temperatures inside the car. They received permission to break one of the windows and then subsequently rescued the 2 year old girl after spending a total of 30 minutes inside the vehicle. The girl’s mother and owner of the car, Khun Siriyot aged 34 explained that following the road accident involving her Silver Toyota Corolla, she parked her car and in the confusion left her keys inside the vehicle. The girl picked up the keys and activated the lock. Despite the best efforts of her Mother, the girl was not able to unlock the car. Apart from a few tears, the girl was unharmed and the woman was able to continue negotiations with the owner of the other vehicle involved in the accident.

Very glad to read the baby was unharmed.

Couldn't agree more.

In Oz several kids a year die due to being left in cars. It can end up well over 45C in a car on a moderate day, the kid does not need to be in there long for it to do dammage. The police (or even security in shopping centres) do not ask for permission, they break the window, get the kid out and prosecute the driver.

In this case, where the child did the locking they probably would not have prosecuted, but entered the vehicle as quickly as possible. (Where is firemen Terry with real life tale? :o )

Why the hel_l didn't she just smash one of the windows?

Especially when it was obvious the child was stuck in the car and dehydration was setting in.

Ohhh...that's right. It would have cost money to replace the window.

Thai logic is saving money comes before a child's well being :o

As mentioned ,it happens in Oz quite a bit & we have smashed quite a few windows over the years to get children out of locked vehicles NEVER asking permission. In over 90% of cases the child was left in the car on purpose "just for a few minutes" . Once in 20+ years one Mother tried to have the Security Personnel at one Shopping Centre in Perth charged with damage. She was convicted of placing her child in danger. Outside Temp was 38+.

Glad to hear the child is OK

main thing is that baby is fine, everything else is irrelevant. dunno if it's just me but I never ever leave the car w/o the key, even if it's only stepping out the car to pay for petrol. even more so with my baby daughter in the car, she may accidentally switch on the engine. that woman clearly wasn't thinking straight.
