What Visa

Featured Replies

A good friend whose wife is Thai with PR Australia will be visiting Thailand agai in the near future.

I use the term visiting as she will eventually return to Aust (husband to work in PNG).

No problem for wife but they have a daughter born in Oz now 3 years old.

The daughter has visited Thailand before on Aust passport.

Question is - Is there a 90 day visa for the daughter or does she have to come on a standard tourist visa.

Intention may well be for daughter to obtain Thai recognition whilst here obtain Thai passport and stay with mum of course until they return to Aust.

If daughter is to stay on Thai passport will they have to leave country be marked out on Aust passport and then return on Thai passport or can some type of changeover be carried out at thai Immigration Bkk.

All comments welcome.

Non-imm-O and then get the daughter a Thai passport when she's here (or try and get one issued in Oz)

Non Imm O Visa 90 days.

As far as I know she would have to leave on the Aus passport and return on the Thai one.

Would be better if she could obtain a Thai passport from the Thai Embassy in Australia.

It is much easier to apply for the Thai passport in Australia, as in Thailand itelf she would have to show a Thai ID, etc. Check the Thai embassy website about how to apply for the Thai passport.

Here on page 2.

Yeb, that's the one from the Thai embassy in Canberra: http://canberra.thaiembassy.org/passport.pdf page 2.

You will first need to apply for a Thai birth certificate and then can apply for a Thai passport or do it at the same time.

Thai consulate in Sydney might also be possible: http://www.thaiconsulatesydney.org/
