Causes of the exponential increase in Thai obesity?
when I came to thailand in the eighties if you saw a fat thai you would stop and stare it was pretty rare. Still remember when they opened up that donut shop in the tesco in udon, must have been early 2000,s all those slim girls all lined up for their donuts-I called it then, that they were going to get fat (and they did) and the scrawny kids back then couldnt afford candy so all they had was chewing on a bit of sugar cane.probobly burn more calories trying to eat it than they got out of it. sugar is the number 1 culprit (white death) torched more than one relative here for diabetes -

What do locals think of foreigners living in rural parts of Thailand on very modest budgets?
Because if you truly live in a rural Thai community and are part of that community, like any small town in the West, everyone knows everyone. If you don't know what people think, you're living under a rock. I don't live under a rock, I interact with the community although as I get older I tend to value my privacy and allow my wife to be the social advocate of the family. -

But never fear - a brilliant plan is in the pipeline, a canal across the Krah Isthmus! -

Report Thailand's Military Aims for Reform Amid Political Unrest
Thai military reform? It has to start at the top of the military. Many young Thais I know in the military are hoping for major reforms; others have given up waiting and have left the Thai military.
