Where To Buy Polaroid Sunglasses At Reasonable Cost?

Anyone know where I can buy some genuine polaroid sunglasses at a good price - anywhere on Phuket? Rather daunted by the price (even after two discounts) at a local opticians.

I've seen some cheap no-name ones at Super sport and world of sport in Jungceylon.

plastic frame and in the 200-600THB range, they have the sticker for 100%uv protection but they feel flimsy and you get what you pay for.

I bought a cheep pair so that i could be rough with them and not care if they broke/got damaged and well the frame snapped putting them on to my head one day.

from what I remember a pair of Polorized Oakley's will set you back 6-8K

Don't know what other brands cost.

Happy hunting and if you find a good buy, let us know.

I'm shopping for new sunglasses too. Freakin dropped my 4000thb Ray-Bans in the sand last Sunday evening during sunset beers at Nai Hairn. Granted, I had them for eight months, but still a pisser.

My experience here with shades is you have to drop the coin on a nice pair. The optical shop at Central, across from the SCB usually has some deals, and you can bargain them down. The Polaroids you get in a regular drugstore in the states don't seem to exist here.

Be real careful with the cheapies, they are finding retinal cancer prevalence from crappy sunglasses (like the copies you see in Patong) where the glasses actually let through the harmful rays directly onto your retina. Mai dii.

Yes! I can't stress this enough the real fakes in Patong and else where will actually damage your eyes!

Think about it NO UV protection and a darker tint means opening up your iris more to let more damaging light though.

Never wear them!

Make sure your shades have UV protection.

Remember that you can test to see if they are really polarized by using them to look at an LCD screen ... look then rotate it 90degrees and you should not be able to read the screen

Go to Phuket sail next door to boat lagoon. Gen polaroids at good prices

thanks stuandchris, that sounds what we're looking for. Don't need any name brands just polaroids that do what they're supposed to. Will take a look this week and report back.
