Senator files request to review credit card debts of Samak administration

Senator Ruangkrai Likitwatthana has requested the National Counter Corruption Commission (NCCC) to review the credit card liabilities of the previous Samak Sundaravej administration, stating that the reports are not consistent with the latest filings.

Mr. Ruangkrai made his request by post to the NCCC, calling for a review of the credit card debt of all ministers within the Samak Sundaravej administration, many of which are still serving in the current Somchai Wongsawat government.

He stated that he found 32 ministers who did not file reports for their spouses along with 12 ministers whose reports are incongruent with those submitted before they were appointed as ministers.

Mr. Ruangkrai said that Prime Minister Somchai himself, who was previously serving as Minister of Education, had then posted credit debts of over 100,000 Baht, but his latest report is only around 79,000 baht.

If the NCCC deems the credit card liabilities reports as fraudulent, the matter will be forwarded to the Supreme Court as a crime, the Senator said.

NACC asked to probe MP card debts

Senator Ruangkrai Leekijwattana has petitioned the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) to investigate whether 32 former Cabinet ministers in the Samak administration have credit card debts, and declared them, as required by the constitution. Mr Ruangkrai said only 12 of 44 ministers in the previous government had declared credit card debts. Cabinet ministers in the Samak government declared their assets and liabilities on Jan 22. Mr Ruangkrai believed most of the former Cabinet ministers must have owned credit cards and he suspected some might have not declared their debts. Article 259 of the charter requires Cabinet ministers to declare their assets and liabilities as well as those of their spouses and children aged under 18 to the NACC. In the event they fail to declare their assets and debts or submit false declarations, the anti-graft agency must refer the cases to the Supreme Court's Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions for a decision. Those found guilty will be removed from their positions and barred from taking political posts for five years. Mr Ruangkrai urged the anti-graft agency to ask for information from the National Credit Bureau Co to investigate use of credit cards owned by the 32 former Cabinet ministers, their spouses, and children. Former Cabinet ministers in the Samak government who told the NACC that they had credit cards included Somchai Wongsawat, Santi Promphat, Anusorn Wongwan, Songsak Thongsri and Supon Fongngam.

There several reports on News about to check the Credit Cards dept of MP's.

Seems to be that the former and the now running Government officials are a bit "lazy" for to follow the required procedures.

Please read the following Post's, I'll move from their current location to this thread, for more information.

Cheers.
