It all depends on your personal Philosophy of life and how you use language, as it can affect you in a negative way. I don’t use certain words about my life, eg “ regrets “. I make decisions based upon the information that I have available at the time and my feelings. If it turns out into good results then I celebrate the positivity of it. This was true of my career. During my career however I made decisions that were not deemed favorable at the time but instead of dwelling too much on it, I took the positives out of it, the benefits, advantages and as it turned out another door opened and I moved on. Same with relationships, a marriage ended but instead of drowning my sorrows, I grieved the loss appropriately and took the positives from it. Wonderful children, and time to travel extensively and again move on. Leisure activities, I thought alcohol was good for socializing until it started ruling my life. I had good times and memories and stood by that but moved on from drinking alcohol. I did enjoy it, but time to experience life with more money in my pocket and no hangovers. Eating more healthier and food tastes better, not rushing to eat junk food. So my advice would be similar to some others who urge you to enjoy the moment and not live in the past or future. We are here not only to live but to learn, be prepared to abandon old habits if they are not positive in your life, cut out things that create negative feelings in your mind leading to the need for drugs, alcohol, depression, unhappiness or fake happiness. You have to work on it yourself, never too late to address long standing or inherent behaviors.
