george Posted December 9, 2004 Share Posted December 9, 2004 Bad cooking oil is offence in Thailand Bangkok: -- Restaurants and food vendors using substandard recycled cooking oil to prepare food for sale will be fined 50,000 baht ($1,190) each, according to a new regulation of the Thai health ministry. Fines will be imposed on sellers using cooking oil with polar compounds exceeding 25 percent of its weight, reports Xinhua. Checks on fried food and snacks in markets and fast food restaurants in Bangkok revealed that many vendors were using cooking oil with excessively high polar compounds, which could cause skin and white blood cell cancers, lung and liver tumours, Health Minister Sudarat Keyraphan was quoted by the daily Bangkok Post as saying. --Indo-Asian News Service / Agencies Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
