The Thai wife of a friend of mine in the States has returned to take over her shop from the person who was Leasing it (and not paying as was agreed)... Anyway, she is in need of a couple of Thai ladies who are qualified to do hair styling / whatever they want done... The shop is located directly across the road from a major 4 Star Hotel and in the past was very busy and profitable with both Thai and Farang customers... She is now staying in Thailand and wanting to build the business back up to what it was before....

She has told us that she has been unable to find anyone decent by word of mouth, and is at a bit of a loss as to where / how to look further...

Anyway, I would like to know if anyone knows of what schools might be available teaching such so that she might contact them for referrals, or if anyone knows someone looking for such a position...

Pianoman,

I find it a bit strange that your friend does not know where to look for people as you said she owned the shop before.

If she has been a hairdresser herself and/or previously owned the shop, she must know where all those schools are.

Unless she has not been in Thailand for the last 25 years, I find it a bit strange that she cannot find people that want to work for her.

Maybe she not pay enough?

Starting rate for a worker/hairstudent is 8000 THB, that is a person that does the hairwashing and cleaning stuff.

If fully qualified it is about 20.000 THB without tip's.

She is not a Stylist herself, as the shop was first a Laundry & Dry Cleaning place... She added the Hairstyling about a year before she left for the States, and to give her sisters a place to work.... Was successful from the start... She Leased the shop out to another lady prior to leaving for the States and all went well for the first two years after which the monthly payments started coming later and later, then stopped... When she returned to Bangkok she found the lady who was leasing the business was driving a new BMW, spending her time out of the business and just not taking care of business at all... Freinds wife now has the shop back in her control and has one (only one she trusts) Stylist of the ones who were there when she returned....
