Hairy
Just saw mention of Tiger Airways in another thread, and decided to price a ticket from BKK to Singapore. Roundtrip airfare was 1475 baht. "Taxes and fees" were 4375 baht, nearly triple the cost of the "airfare". Clicking on the "details" link simply reiterates that the fees are for the specified amount. What the hel_l?? Are the airport fees and taxes really that high, or is this just a backdoor revenue generator for the airline?

jackspratt
If you check the taxes and fees for other airlines, including FCC, you will probably find they are about the same as Tiger. I had always assumed Tiger had pulled out of Udon because they needed the planes on the higher margin newly opened Australian operation.
samiinjapan
this they look very high if you are going a short distance if price is 1000 then $300 taxes look ok but with 100 $300 looks very high these are same with all other airlines
torrenova
I often go BKK-SIN and every time Tiger are way over Air Asia cost wise. That is whether booking way in advance or just on the spur of the moment. Often their base fares are lower but their charges are what kills them. And that was before Air Asia dropped fuel surcharges. Flying the same route and presumably incurring the same charges, it is unclear why their charges are so much higher.
