:o This has just been on Sky News http://uk.news.yahoo.com/5/20081201/twl-br...ts-3fd0ae9.html

I'm not suprised that our German friends are getting first dibs on flights out of Thailand as our goverment is useless at looking after us when we are at home so what do you expect when your away in a different country.

Good Luck to all stuck out there but I would swap with you any day believe me as you are missing nothing back here in Blighty

There are flights between LHR and U Tapao (UTP?) in a couple of days.

The point I was making was how poor our wonderful goverment was in helping out there own people when they need them the most. That said I can't wait till I'm out in BK very soon.

I suspect that it is because THAI and LUFTHANSA are both in the same Star Alliance scheme. and the flight is going to Germany.

I was once flying from Frankfurt to Alexandria on Lufthansa, and several people were "bumped" from the flight. There was one Brit (me) and half a dozen Egyptians, not a single German. I did well though I got twice my ticket cost in compensation vouchers, and spent it all on onboard duty free, Meisterstuck pens and Cognac... (fact)

On a BA flight to LHR, BA would most likely be courteous, and give priority to foreign immigrants keen to work in the UK.

At least you guys seem to have some response. As best as I can tell, the USA embassy and State Department are just saying, to quote the old Mell Brooks movie Blazing Saddles: "Son, you're on your own." So much for our embassy tax dollars. All they have done is post a travel advisory dated November 26, and as of December 1 they say the information is current! Big fffffing help if already here!

gk, sorry to say but in case you missed it, your State Department is in transition at the moment. Once they have settled in and got their world atlas out, located Thai... Tai... Taiwan and worked out how to dial outside, 'International Rescue' will be on the ground shortly... all you need to do is find a way of getting there. Meanwhile, relax and enjoy the show.

Its because the government can't find another Country to borrow the money from to pay for the airfares. Browns credit card has been withdrawn too much bad debt already

as our goverment is useless at looking after us

idiot.

thailand , even with the airport shut down , is hardly a hardship posting.

but thanks to the generosity of the hard working and long suffering taxpayer and the cancer of socialism , brits have been spoiled by generous benefits , handouts and rights without responsibilities for far too long.

some of my countrymen tend to moan and bleat at the government or the council for help when anything goes ever slightly amiss in their lives.

Agreed, the nanny state is an essential for these people who seem to find it impossible to either hunker down and relax or get off their ar5e and get themselves out. But these are the same people who will sound off in the pub when they get back about how they survived being held hostage in a violent third world country.

Oh I forget we have to cossett all those people who've spent up and maxed out their CC's. Do these people not understand the principle of contingency?

And to those who claim people will lose their jobs if they are not back on time I say anyone likely to get the order of the DCM (Don't Come Monday) because they were stuck in Thailand were top of the list already.

Yes we all at sometime or another experience the unexpected but then most of us get on with the task of pulling through, the others whinge and whine for the TV cameras.

Sorry, my cup of sympathy is reserved for more deserving cases.

You have to send me a link to that story. My mate is a special constable in Bideford but is currently working for me offshore Indonesia. This would get right up his nose as he says his biggest headache on duty at weekends is stroppy, gobby, drunk tarts in high heels with handbags that contain a few quid, lipstick, some pills and a packet of condoms.

:D It seems that an opinion is not required on a forum???

So I posted this for those who are stranded out there and don't know what the fuc_k is going on because they are getting no help from the British Consulate out in Bangkok but as it seems to have pissed off an Aussie because it was about the British I must offers my sincere apologies for giving a shit.

Regarding my mother I doubt she will be grateful as she has been 6 feet under for the past 8 years but thanks I can look after myself these days.I spend 6 months a year out in Thailand and 6 months over here back in England and I know where I would like to be right now and it isn't here freezing my nads off.I don't care if you don't like the British as you clearly don't but then who the fuc_k likes you anyway other than some other retarded fuc_kwitt who takes great delight in other peoples misery. :o

British Consulate out in Bangkok

foreigners are not being targeted for violence in thailand , foreigners have been advised to stay away from the one or two troubled areas of the city where trouble is likely to occur.foreigners are being paid , fed , accommodated and offered free medical care at any private hospital in the country should they fall ill whilst delayed.

other than warning their citizens about this there is not much any embassy can do.

for many months now , the embassy website has been warning and advising british citizens to be mindful of the situation here before coming.

now you have come and things have turned inconvenient , dont say you weren't forewarned about possible trouble here.

open your eyes all you people who are stuck. it is hardly a surprise given what has been happening here ( and fully reported in the worlds press) for the past six months.

a massive case of the " oh it'll never happen to me " syndrome.

there are none so blind as those who will not see.

Dave, Dave, let it go.

You posted for what? For concern for your fellow pasty-faced, shrivelled-up nuts, pathetic whining, where's my mummy types that couldn't find their own <deleted> with both hands and a flashlight? REALLY???

You assume that I am an Australian, a sexpat and reside in Pattaya. Three strikes and not even close. You are OUT!

But I, and several other forum members do know for sure that you are a one hundred and one percent English <deleted>.

Ah, the sun is up, the beer is cold and the girlies are stirring. As the old postcard says, "Weather here, wish you were fine."
