Am I In A Jam Coming To Bkk In 19 Days

Featured Replies

I booked a family ticket to fly with Airasia from MEL to BKK via KL on the 21 Dec.

When we get to KL would there be a chance that we can't do the second leg?

My wife wants to visit her family in Saraburi, that was the plan.

If we get stuck, Please give me some options in what to do.

I booked the tickets 3 months ago on my CBA Goldcard.

So maybe have some come-back on travel insurance.

But being our first leg of the journey is to KL, we may be forced to go.

We also have booked a side trip from BKK to DPS (Bali) via KL after we have been in Thailand.

8 to 16 Jan.

What should I do?

Thanks for any advice.

You would hope the problem is resolved by then, but who knows for sure. At least if you fly in to KL, you could use land transport to get to BKK. You could stop off at a few places on the way to break the trip.

If the problem isn't fixed by January well...

The impression I am getting is that the problem will be resolved by the end of the week. Don't ask me where I get this, it's just a feeling. :o

most probably they will fly you to some other airport - there might be some delays and difficulties, but you will fly.

I believe you can fly from KL to Vientiane in Laos. From there just 20 kilometres to the Thai border at Nong Khai where you could get either the bus or train to Bangkok.

It would be far easier to fly to Phuket or Chiang Mai then by road or train from there.

And AirAsia will probably expand their current 'emergency' services through U-Tapao.

Airasia will advise you when you arrive in KL, but prepare to pay extra.

The local massage/hair salon girls across from my hotel here in Pattaya are sure the airport will be cleared by Friday. After that, a few weeks should get things back to some order.

I mean come on. Hairdressers have the pulse of the people!

Yeah... you could definitely fly from KL to Vientianne in Laos.

Another option is to fly from KL to the likes of Phuket, Chiang Mai or Krabi with Air Asia. Or Hat Yai with Thai Airways. Each location is then just an overnight bus/train journey to Bangkok. Thailand's trains and overnight buses are excellent standard. Or like i wrote in another thread, you could take the train all the wait up from KL to BKK changing in Butterworth (Penang).

Thank you all for the input.

What do you mean about Airasia pay extra?

i am going to copy all the options you have provided me

and slip it in my travel bag, just in case.

I believe the storm is over, hope it won't return.

Wishing Him good health and many more years.

What with current political situation looking brighter and brighter by the day, looks like you won't have anything to worry about.
