Hi,

I just returned to the U.S. after traveling in Thailand for 7 weeks on a single-entry, 60-day tourist visa. I would like to come back in January for three months and do not need to work during that time. I am assuming it would be on the same type of visa since I have no concrete plan to work or study...I think the tourist visa is easiest to get. (And, per the board administators info request, I am not near 50 so retiring is not at play here.)

1) Is ths plan permittable or does the 90-day rule somehow effect it?

2) If I wanted to stay longer than 3 months without working, could I do that? how and for how long?

3) If I ended up wanting to stay and get a job, is there anything I sould know on this front end that would make it easier to change visa types later?

If there is a place on Thai Visa where this information is already clearly explained, please just point me there. I looked around but what I read only confused me.

Thanks so much!

The 90 day rule does not apply to you.

It is only for people using 30 day Visa Exempt stamps.

A double entry tourist visa will get you 60 days (on the visa) + 30 days extension + 60 days (on the visa) + 30 days extension.

Just watch the expiry date on the visa before doing your border run to activate the second entry.

That will give you almost 120 days to find a job.
