kurgen
On Wednesday Morning, Police Colonel Somnook, the Chief of Banglamung Police, made his way to the Bira International Racing Circuit to investigate a suspected case of murder. At the scene, officers were directed to a hammock containing the body of Khun Somshai aged 51 who is employed as a security guard at the circuit. The victim’s hands and feet were tied together and severe trauma injuries consistent with repeated blows to the head were evident. The Guard was employed to guard a room containing 1,000cc racing motorbikes. Mr. Richard Knight, the English owner of the bikes confirmed that 4 of them with a combined value of 2 Million Baht, had been stolen. Mr. Knight confirmed that previous to the theft he received a call from a Thai Man who was enquiring about the bikes and also wanted to know where they were stored. Fingerprints and other forensic evidence was removed from the scene as Police hunt for the killer or killers. Pattaya One News

MsFigure
Well they got the scum. I drove past Bira on the way to pick up my daughter from school and it was packed with police, media and bystanders. Also saw a friend who also keeps his bikes there and he confirmed they caught the guys. Apparently they had the shooters there (2 fifteen year olds and a 19 year old) re-enacting their crime
mgjackson69
I wonder if Mr Knight provided the requested information...
MsFigure
Four Men arrested following Bira Racing Circuit Murder and theft. On Thursday Morning, Police Major General Bundit, the Provincial Commander of Police, led a press conference to announce the arrest of four people aged between 15 and 23 who were arrested in connection with Wednesday’s murder case from the Bira International Racing Circuit. It was also announced that the 3 racing motorbikes taken from the circuit had also been recovered. The suspects were arrested on the strength of an arrest warrant issued by the Pattaya Court following evidence collected at the scene and through the murder investigation run by Banglamung Police. All suspects confessed to their part in the murder and theft and later on Thursday a reconstruction of events leading up to the killing and theft took place. The men demonstrated how they cut through fences and crept up on the sleeping security guard in the early hours of Wednesday Morning. Following his death, the 3 racing bikes were put on the back of the pick-up. We understand that the investigators were able to catch the men because the three bikes were posted on an internet site later on Wednesday and were for sale for a total of 1.2 Million Baht. One of the suspects aged only 15 confessed to striking the security guard on the head and killing him and a further member of the group is a motorbike racer and his older brother is a racing judge at the circuit. The case will be heard in court next week. Pattaya One News Wonder what happened to the 4th bike. Something sounds very fishy
bdenner
One of the suspects aged only 15 confessed to striking the security guard on the head and killing him and a further member of the group is a motorbike racer and his older brother is a racing judge at the circuit. Let the 15 year old take the fall for the murder as he is likely to receive the lessor sentence. - Is that me being cynical?

rayw
I am all for capital punishment for crimes such as this where there is no doubt as to guilt. Don't care if he is only 15 plenty old enough to know better, so to me the guy is evil and does not deserve to be allowed to live in any civilised society. That poor guards family I feel so sorry for, such a bloody wicked pointless murder, they could have at least just tied him up before committing their theft. The bikes have been thankfully recovered but you cannot recover that guards life, it is gone forever and no question, that 15 year old should be executed as soon as proved 100% guilty of the murder, bloody scumbag. cali4995
Some more details on this other news site (below) the other offenders appear to be in their early 20's. yeah, i'm not sure so much if i believe their story after the cold-blooded murder. http://www.pattayadailynews.com/shownews.p...NEWS=0000007966
cali4995
this is the most believable news version (below) apparently the thieves were "showing" one of the stolen bikes in front of robinson's in sriracha and police were called in. http://www.pattayapeople.com/default.asp?F...IdArticle=15019
MsFigure
So was it 3 or 4 bikes that were stolen? The owner confirmed that 4 bikes valued at 2 million baht were stolen in the initial reports, but only 3 bikes were recovered with the murderers. Either the murdering thieves managed to sell 1 bike (reports say they admitted to stealing 3 bikes) or the owner of the bikes is not telling the whole truth? cali4995
Who knows, even with 3 separate news agencies providing details the information seems conflicting and the story line varies. Agree with you about the discrepancy though. One bike has gone missing.
hughden
The owner didn't say how many bikes were missing, the media did. They couldn't even get the owner's name right, so no surprise that they reported the wrong numbers of bikes stolen (or found). Just the usual sloppy reporting. Agree with you about the discrepancy though. One bike has gone missing. How about editing this to say "because of 3 separate news agencies"? That would be more accurate.
