Free Visa Extension for Travellers Heading to New Zealand

In light of the current events at Bangkok's international airports Immigration New Zealand - Bangkok will offer the following options to individuals and groups whose travel to New Zealand has been disrupted.

For clients whose travel has been disrupted by the closure of Suvarnabhumi International Airport, Immigration New Zealand Bangkok will:

1. Waive the application fee, and

2. Consider a visa extension up to 31 January 2009 (visa extension is not automatic and Visa Officer may decline to issue an extension).

In order to be eligible for the visa extension groups and individuals will need to show that they:

1. Have a confirmed flight to travel to New Zealand departing between 26 November 2008 and 31 December 2008, that has been rescheduled due to disruptions at the airport, and

2. Hold a valid visitor's or group visa that expires no later than 31 December 2008, and

3. Have a valid passport, and

4. Have a confirmed re-scheduled flight departing before the 31st January 2009, and

5. The original visa conditions will apply, such as including the same persons as per the original application.

6. If any new persons wish to be added to an application the additional person will need to pay the regular application fee and lodge a new application in the usual manner.

Individuals or groups who have re-scheduled their travel and will be travelling after 31 January 2009 will need to make a new visa application in the usual manner.

In order to apply for this visa extension clients should either approach Immigration New Zealand Bangkok directly by visiting the branch office or approach their travel agent for assistance.
