Italian Tourist Dies From Cold

Italian tourist dies from cold

MAE HONG SON: -- An Italian tourist died in a guesthouse in Pai District of Thailand's northern province of Mae Hong Son last night, apparently from hypothermia.

Mrs. Maroa Drazia Teria, 44, was discovered by her husband late last night suffering from what appeared to be a fit.

Although she was rushed to hospital, she was pronounced dead before she reached it.

Mr. Tossani Teria said that his wife, who suffered from an unnamed medical condition, went to bed at the Nanya Guesthouse at 21.00hrs, without covering herself with a blanket.

She was discovered on the verge of death two hours later.

An initial autopsy ruled out the possibility of foul play.

Based on the very limited information provided, I doubt the cause of death is truly hypothermia. Too many inconsistencies with that, such as the only 2 hours before going to bed and death. Another being that having a "fit" is not symptomatic of hypothermia. Far more likely is her underlying medical condition, which has been noted, but not expounded on.

People don't have 'fits' when they die of hypothermia. They stop shivering and lay perfectly still.

More to this story somewhere.
