December 12, 200817 yr DNS Malware and Wireless Access Points This might be of interest to those who use wireless internet connections, especially at public access points. Basically a malware DNSChanger program on an infected computer can intercept DNS requests, from other computers loging onto a wireless network, and feed them bogus information so you end up using a rogue server which then has control over your internet surfing. You are fed pages that request that you upgrade a plug-in, such as a flash player, and then your computer is infected and taken over... The simplest means to prevent this is to manually set up your computer to connect to a pre-selected DNS server (such as OpenDNS) by IP address instead of a domain name. That way it will not request DNS server information when it logs onto a network. Wash.
