London take the ephotographs, but Bangkok produce the epassports.

Did this at the Thai embassy in London a while ago for my daughter. They take the form and the photo etc, then send everything to the passport office in Bangkok. We got the new passport back within 2 weeks.

Details of how to apply in Thai.

Thia passports are good for 5 years and are then renewd with a stamp on the inside cover making it good for another 5 years and will be done at any Thai Embassy. After that they issue a new passport which is only doen in Bangkok now

The new passport is indeed issued in Bangkok, but one can still submit the application via the RTE in Kensington.

Thai Electronic Passport (E-Passport): Application Instruction

Please be informed that the process of applying for a new passport takes 6-8 weeks as the new passport must be issued by the Consular Department in Bangkok, Thailand.

If you do not know what you are talking about please dont bother commenting...

carefully see & read the following link please....

http://www.thaiembassyuk.org.uk/extend_en.html

Thai Embassy UK states that:

** Note: Non-electronic passport can be extended until 28 July 2010 (less than 5 years). If you wish to extend your passport for the full benefit of 5 years, application for new electronic passport is recommended.

In fact the Thai Embassy in the UK ( and elsewhre) can extend you old Thai passport, by stamping it till the date shown on "quote" because as per the existing regulations and after that date all passports all existing passports will have to be E passports...

Amazingly this extension will cost you more than getting a new E passport done... ( done this for the Mrs Thai citizen)

Strongly advise you to take the new E passport...it couldn´t be any easier

have to go to embassy they will fill in the forms, take your picture by using computer software ( same system used in Bangkok chaeng watana) passaport is issued in Bangkok and sent back to to Embassy where it was taken a few weeks later ( my daughters took two weeks to arrive to the Embassy)

Again and amazingly this new passport cost about £ 8.00 cheaper than the passaport renewal....

Please follow link to see what you need in order to get the new E passport done in the UK
