Dr. Seuss
Im coming to the end of my 90 day multiple entry visa and will need to do a 'run' soon. After reading about the changes to Poipet and the changes to the excellent Jack's Golf service i want to go somewhere new. There must be other legal entry points into Cambodia, does anybody know of them and what have been their experiences? If there is anything close to the boarder to see as i'd like to make a day of it. The only real change is the addition of the photo requirement at Combodian Immigration upon entry. Make sure you stand in one of the queues on the LEFT and you will get thru quite quickly. Lunch has moved to the Tropicana which is must better than the Holiday Palace. On balance - Friday's trip was actually a good experience! We were back at Sukhumvit at 5:00pm. Jockstar
I hate Poi Pet. I'd rather spend an extra couple of grand and fly somewhere for a night.

Khutan
ERRR! Thanks chingy! Not what i required, requested or needed. Thanks all the same. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ok, well here is something else. Go to Mo-Chit and get on the bus to Prasat. Make sure you arrive there about early in the Morning. Its on Highway 24. It will cost you about 250 Baht. You can get local bus to to Chom Chon on Hwy 214 about 40 baht. Get out at the end and you are at Cambodia. All for about 300 Baht. There is a Casino, Swimming Pool, Markets, Bars (over the hill) all that stuff. You can then get the bus back to Prasat and then the Bus to Mo-Chit. Total Visa Run 600 Baht + Visa Expenses. Food along the way will be of the order of 20 - 50 Baht. The hotel is cheap, and well it seems nice inside, the Duty free is OK as well. As I have said on other threads, very low-key, no Falangs, no camera's and no waiting. In fact if you look Honest, ou don't have to have a passport photo. Enjoy Issan. Maybe a bit longer than the Mainstream Tour Operators, but you will save something... Enjoy.
Khutan
Another Alternative for the Keen/backpackers/stupid/poor; Catch the train up to Bong-Ti, its past Kanchanaburi. You will have to pay someone to take you drive you down to Baan Bong-Ti-Bon. You will get there really cheap. Now I know its one of the dodgiest places I have ever seen in Thailand - Immigration came running out telling us to stop - Guraien with guns - Go home. Come back 3 month.... My wife was not to be worried, I hated the place, so we turned around and went home. There used to be a Market there, and used to be many things. Not somewhere you would find me again, but there you have it - 2 suggestions for an alternative. I think the this is not a good alternative..... Dr. Seuss
I agree. No great changes to the Poipet run but the extra hassel is 'the straw that broke the camels back' for me. For one, what if immigration decide on any given day that xx Poipet stamps is enough?? I only have a couple but would still like to mix and match boarder crossing stamps. Secondly, if im going to all that way i would like to be able to see something of interest, even if its just a market town. I have never felt up to the spectle that is Poipet. I can find no fault with Jack's. On my last trip the guards insisted that it was a 100 baht a stamp, the cheif's birthday i guess, and without any prompting the guy from Jack's got on the bus with a clutch of new 100's and dished them out to us. It wasn't even christmas. on that note. Merry Christmas.

Khutan
Johpa; mmm, now thats a conspiracy theory if I have ever heard it, maybe hatched in your mind while eating your rice porridge, with the annoying whurr of your fan. Lets look at some fact; I put a post up 3 months ago this one to be exact.... http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=16607&hl= Now clearly no one offered an opinion, nor any feedback, including you.... So I got in my shiny Pick-up and went and had a look. 1. It is not easy to find even with GPS and a good map. 2. I have no plans to return. 3. I could have crossed the boarder, but was warned against it in the strongest terms. 4. Almost all the shops there are closed / abandoned. But up to you, go and have a look yourself, see the place with your own eyes, then you may have an informed opinion. Uh, was it the Thai immigration suspecting you of being a gun toting Karen1. I am obviuusly a falang.2. My wife is obviously ethnic Khmer So the idea that the Immigration guy there would think my wife and I are Karen or Garien is a bit silly. Guns, with me, doubt it. or are you suggesting that Thai immigration has hired Karens with guns. No, why would I suggest something like that, and then in turn denegrate Thai Immigration with such an accusation. IMHO, posting something like that would probably earn me a holiday. In fact the reverse, In Kanchanaburi Province, I have only ever seen and dealt with polite and helpful Immigration people. Considering they don't have an easy job to do, I think a remark like the one you made is nothing short of distasteful. Even at the Check-points very late at night, they are still polite and helpful. IMHO, both scenarios are equally implausible.Well You said it. You "invented both of the scenarios"Maybe another idea may be; The Karen or Garien have been up to their usual (criminal) activities in the area, and it wasn't safe to travel further. Then that would be another example of Immigration in Kanchanaburi doing their job well. As I said again; Well go and have a look for yourself - - as I said in my post - I would not go near the place.
