karlski
Do you need an account at SCB to use the MoneyGram service? If so what's required to start an account? If not, have you used it, how was it? -k
kimmy
I used MoneyGram via a SCB branch. Don't know about the sender's side, but as the receiver of the money i was surprised how easy it was. You don't need an account, it is paid cash, no extra costs. You get a reference number from the sender, you can pick the money up at the branche it is sent to, bring your passport. Took all together 5 minutes to get the money.
Jimjim
Moneygram is just like Western Union. Anyone can use them. They just have deals with certain banks to allow their service and not the other's to operate in certain banks. For example, Ayutthuya Bank only Western Union and SCB only Moneygram. So, anyone can walk into those banks and use those services regardless if you have an account or not as they operate separately. Well, I guess someone with no legs wouldn't be able to walk into those banks. Zing!
