Gaydar.com Blocked!

Featured Replies

It's 1.15 p.m. and have just tried visiting www.gaydar.com only to find:

เว็บไซต์นี้ถูกปิดกั้นโดย Cyber Inspector กระทรวงเทคโนโลยีสารสนเทศและการสื่อสาร

ถ้ามีข้อสงสัยหรือต้องการร้องเรียนให้ส่งเมล์มาที่ [email protected]

Is it just me or....?

No problem here. Copied and pasted the URL and the website seems fine. Not sure what the writing is in Thai, however.

It said, the website has been blocked by Ministry of Information and Communication Technology. Should you have any questions or complaints, send email to the stated address.

But I can access the site no problem. Using Samart Infonet and connecting from North of Bangkok.

Hmmm.. would this happen to be form of official censorship..?

:o

I believe so. It's in the news on Thai Version that MICT has informed all ISPs in Thailand to block about 2,500 websites (pornography, gamble, or lese majeste) as the government cannot shut websites hosted outside Thailand down.

Well, as the above mentioned website is primarily a dating/social forum, I guess it's time to get the "Ministry" to go after all the straight dating forums, too- "morality" crusades always wind up going overboard and shooting themselves in the mouth eventually.

Hmmm, I can access it again now, like it never happened. Interesting. Some of my friends weren't blocked in the first place. I have True DSL, so maybe it was a a True initiative?

They PROBABLY blocked it for the nud_e pictures ... but since it is not on the "official" list of bad sites unblocked it when they got complaints.

Try using a proxy-server based outside of Thailand if you have problems accessing sites in the future.

There are at least 4 that you can access via the web w/o changing any of your settings.

Um, how do I access a "proxy server"? :o

Grateful for details & instructions ...

You can access the site by typing in 64.38.234.63 instead of www.gaydar.com.

This bypasses the block.

Thanks, astral. Very handy to know. :o

the proxy 64.38.234.63 take me to a porn site and which links to gaydar

google proxy servers and try web-based proxy servers too.

Might be worth raising the question in the computers technical forum too.
