You can unlock them with a Q-Sim, they do it in MBK just means ill have to stay an extra night in BKK this week to get it done, thought if i could get it done back in Phuket would save me a little time.

Try one of the many mobile shops on Big-C Groundfloor. At least one of them has a sign out "Unlock & Change language"... Should be about 300 Baht.

One phone shop at Jungcylon 'Yodngoen Mobile' ask for K Wan, Located in the phone I.T section next to cinema top floor.

He has 3G Iphone's US model and sells with Turbocard inc, cost approx 25,000 baht for 8GB (Black only) and approx 28,000 for 16GB (white, black). And sells Turbo card separate and will update phone and can unlock old Iphone also he said takes about 40 mins... Sorry I am not a techie on this suject.

The Turbo card is is a very thin flexible card (same size as your sim card that fits behind the actual sim card). And its really easy to place in the phone yourself (same as putting in a sim card) So no need to do anything to your phone. It allows any sim card to work with the phone straight away AIS, DTAC etc.

I bought the phone from him and he installed the latest 2.2 update for me also and so we can use all options on phone as far as I can see anyway. Also he expects the actual phone unlock for Iphone 3G without having to using a Turbo card very soon also.

Actually I don't know what is the advantage, disadvantage in using turbo card or just unlocking the phone without?

Having just paid 25,000 baht a few days ago (it was a Christmas gift) I now just saw this http://www.truemove.com/iphone/eng/price_plan.htm they go for under 6,999 baht unlocked official Thai Iphone 3G

Live and learn... we checked at Phuket Central 3 weeks back about this 'Apple Store' they advertised coming soon but had no idea when!

6'999 + 1'199 x 24months contract = 35'775

So I think you got a good deal at 25'000

Ok :o sounds better...

Wonder if you can get this package and then just cancel subscription asap, then just use phone with other sim (once hacked, Turbo card)

Think they will have that covered same has the UK. You will have to give copy's of id and pay by DD.

The subscription will be a legal binding document.

Hi

The HK phone dont need unlock it is a 3G unlocked from Apple, only place they sell them in the world.

Breaking with its preferred business model, Apple has released an unlocked version of the iPhone 3G in Hong Kong, allowing users to pick their preferred carrier.

The phones will go on sale in Hong Kong at prices of $695 for the 8GB model and $798 for the 16GB version. If those numbers look strikingly high, it's only because Apple's business plan has been to pair the iPhone 3G with a carrier in a given market--for instance, AT&T Mobility in the United States--which subsidizes the cost of the phone because customers are required to sign a service contract and pay for data plans.

Previously, the iPhone was only available in Hong Kong paired with a two-year service contract from Hutchinson, and included a $25 (HK$188) monthly fee. Now customers will be able to put their old SIM card into the iPhone and activate it in iTunes. It's not clear whether this gamble will pay off, though it could put more pressure on Apple to unlock the phones in other markets.

Questions: Is the Wi-Fi feature, which I expects includes Internet Access, available Kingdom wide or just in Bangkok? Do these features use the cellular system or is there a separate access system? The question is relevant because a new system may be unreliable after the initial offering. Thanks.

Wi-Fi just means you can connect to a wireless access point/router in order to gain access to an internet connection, some shopping malls have these, swampy airport has free wifi, and if you have a wifi router at home you can use it there, but if your talking about 3g, i dont think we have it in thailand yet we are still stuck with "edge"
