Hi everybody sorry if we have been down this route before but here goes.

A friend of my wife's has asked this question.

She has come to this country on a six month visa, I am assuming that this is a fiance visa.

anyway while here she has married her boyfriend.

The question is will she have to return to Thailand to apply for a settlement visa ?

Sorry if this is basic but I only think I know the answer so I would rather ask the experts.

If she is here on a visit visa then yes, she will have to return to Thailand and apply for a settlement visa there.

If she is here on a fiance visa then she applies for Further Leave to Remain (see Completing application form FLR(M)) This lasts for two years, after which she applies for Indefinite Leave to Remain (see Applying for settlement in the United Kingdom)

She makes both the FLR and ILR applications in the UK.
