Can You Sell Power Back To The Grid In Thailand?

Under the VSPP program, PEA is obligated to purchase power up to ten megawatts. There are special tariffs for power generated from renewable energy sources.

For very small projects though, the economics are pretty iffy if you don't have some independent reason for developing the generation.

I think you also have to enter into a contract with the electricity authority (EAT? I can't recall) and guarantee to provide a certain level of power. You can't just hook up a meter in reverse and sell them yer excess watts when you don't need them.

Nice idea and something I'd enjoy, if not only for the feel-good factor of helping the environment etc; but as far as ROI is concerned, I'd guess you'd have to wait years for any payback for a system with enough oomph to power the home and send juice up the grid... unless perhaps you shower with a bowl of cold water over your swede, don't use air-con, and are a dab-hand at building wind-turbines and such like :o

For less than 10 MW, the contract would be with PEA or MEA (if in their service area). For VSPP projects, non-firm commitments are normal. The project needs to meet PEA's grid code requirements for dispatch, frequency regulation, etc., though.
