Just as an sidenote, I'm really wonder where all the negative comments been this time by this OS?! :o Remember the "storm" as Vista came out?! :D

Cheers.

I wonder why you wonder?!

Vista was crap, so people complained. Win 7 is a lot better, so we don't complain.

niskter, you're wrong from my point of view and experiences with Vista: Vista was and is better than XP ever was been!Period.

I wonder why the normal permanent Negativist's are so quiet now!

Is it why around the world Windows 7 just get more positive reports than any other MS product within the last, let say 10 years?!

Cheers.

I installed it yesterday on VMware , I have noticed a number of graphics glitches. I like it but I like OSX better.

That's the proble3m with VM-Ware everytime!

If you like to have some special graphics, you're on thye loose with VM-Ware.

Cheers

Well Windows 7 isnt "out" it's just a beta and only a small percentage of people are using it :D

And Windows 7 is not without its Flaws, after a weekend of testing it, i've found a handful of bugs

I was not meaning the time Vista was launched and out final, I meant the time Vista was launched as Beta!

And that's all Beta's have: Bugs, some more, some less! And Windows 7 have much less than Vista at the same stage!

Cheers.

I'm thinking of Installing Win7 on my 8-year-old Sony Viao laptop, with 1Ghtz CPU, 512 MB of Ram and 40 GB HD.

Do you think it will work OK?

Currently it is running Win XP, SP2... But even after a Clean Re-Install, I still find it slow.

There are very few programs running on it now.. mainly Browser and MSOffice '03.

Advice appreciated,

CS

Hi,

The Microsoft site offers two versions, the 32 and 64 bit of Win 7.

Which are people using/recommending?

I had installed on an CE900 with 512 MB and works even better than XP!

Why not just give the Sony a try? I also had install on an old Sony with 1 GB/GHz Vista and that was works fine as well!

Cheers.

Hi Reimar.

What is s CE900? A Celeron 900 MHz processor?

I use the 32 Bit ver4sion for to be able to compare and even to run my old software.

Just test it out. I didn't have a problem with the CE900 and 512 MB but that's a desktop!

Thanks.

I have an old computer with a 1.4 Celeron/768 MB RAM, will be interesting to see if I can install it on that.

PS Come to think of it, I'm also not sure that the 64 bit version of Win 7 would run on a 1.4 Celeron, which is a 32 bit processor as far as I'm aware.

Don't install Windows7 on VirtualPC, VMware or separate Partition.

Use the new Feature Virtual-Harddisk in Windows 7, as i explain before.

This will be a real Installation and do not interfere with the installed OS.

General availability for the Windows 7 Beta to end

First off: thank you for your interest in beta testing Windows 7! As we near January 24th, we wanted to update everyone again on the next steps for the Windows 7 Beta.

The amount of feedback we have received has been amazing and continues to pour in. We are at a point where we have more than enough beta testers and feedback coming in to meet our engineering needs, so we are beginning to plan the end of general availability for Windows 7 Beta.

Because enthusiasm continues to be so high for the Windows 7 Beta and we don’t want anyone to miss out we will keep the Beta downloads open through February 10th. Customers who have started but not completed the download process will be able to do so through February 12th.

The shutdown of general availability for the Windows 7 Beta will occur in 3 phases over the course of the next few weeks:

* Starting January 27th, the Windows 7 page will be updated with a warning that time is running out on downloading the Windows 7 Beta and that we will be limiting downloads shortly. People will be encouraged to register and start the download of the Windows 7 Beta sooner rather than later.

* February 10th, new downloads of the Windows 7 Beta will no longer be available. People who have already started their Windows 7 Beta download and have not yet finished will still be able to finish their download and are encouraged to do so.

* February 12th, people will no longer be able to complete their download of the Windows 7 Beta. Anyone who hasn’t finished downloading the Windows 7 Beta will be unable to do so.

Product keys for the Windows 7 Beta will continue to be available. So if you have the Windows 7 Beta but didn’t get a product key you will be able to do so even after February 12th.
