Microsoft Technet Subscriber Can Get

Microsoft TechNet Subscriber can get an original Windows 7 Key.

Here's the way how to do that:

Step 1 : Logon to http://technet.microsoft.com (click on Sign in in the upper right corner with your Microsoft Passport ID ie: Hotmail etc.)

Step 2 : Copy (Don’t CLICK IT!) one of the links below to the address bar and press enter :

32-Bit key :

Code: Select all

https://www.microsoft.com/betaexperience/sc...w&LCID=1033

Use Copy and Paste only!

64-bit key :

Code: Select all

https://www.microsoft.com/betaexperience/sc...w&LCID=1033

Use Copy and Paste only!

Tip : You can use the 64-bit during a 32-bit installation and a 32-bit key during a 64-bit installation (it seems that getting a 64-bit key is faster!)

Step 3 : If you receive an error, just press CTRL & F5 (non cache load) to refresh (I had to refresh more than 10 times before I received the key), if you’re being redirected then you didn’t follow the steps 1 and 2 correctly!

If you followed the steps correct you should see your key (depending on your version it could also say Windows 7 Beta 32-bit Product Key :o

Have fun with Windows 7.

Cheers

just finished installing win7 and all the software....

first impression: much faster than Vista. Less overloaded with stuff you do not need. Better organized.

What did not work was anything with virtual drives, neither with magic Disk nor with Daemon Tools. Went to the point that Windows did not start anymore and I had to fix it with the system restore from CD. Don't forget it's still Beta 1!

Other than that very happy so far. Tomorrow starts the test in daily life.

Worked for me and still works for me: just checked after reading your post!

But if you didn't have an TechNet Subsription, which I have since year's, it wouldn't work.

The link's in the post have been truncated Mac.Wheeler. Right-click the links and then choose (in Firefox) "Copy Link Location" or (in IE) "Copy Shortcut" and then paste into the browser address window AFTER you have logged in with your Windows Live ID.

Thanks "Reimar" :D

Worked for me using my free Hotmail account to sign in and then right click on the links and open in new tab.

Works in both IE and FF.

Well if you have a technet subscription, you could just request the keys, I mean like in the usual way. Yes there was a problem wed/thurs but on friday, I was able to get mulitple keys without any problems.

I don"t think so....

....a warning from Microsoft

"Don’t install the Beta on your primary home or work computer.

The Beta will expire on August 1, 2009.

Please be prepared to reinstall a prior version of Windows or a subsequent release of Windows 7 before that date."

!NOT over install, create a new partition for Windows 7! Everything you update (over install), is gone!

Forget that! You'll NOT able to recover Vista later.

I was thinking about installing Win 7 over Vista, since I have a cd( VISTA), I thought I could reinstall Vista and system backups, no? :wai:

If you do later a clean install of Vista, it's fine. If you want to go back from Win 7 to Vista you can do with an clean (new) install only.

If you install "over" Vista, which means update, you can NOT roll back to Vista only a new install is possibl;e than.

Now clear?

You can not revert your PC the way you want to go, back to your old Windows installation assuming you want to maintain all your settings. There is a way you can go but this only works if you image your entire system, either with Acronis True Image or Storagecraft Shadowprotect or any other reliable image software. You cannot simply backup your system files. But be aware in case you image your system you only can restore it to that date the last image was written, BEFORE you try to install W7 over Visa.

of course you can format your hard disk and re-install Visa. But this will not bring you back all your settings or previous installed programs.
