hi lads,i am currently on an a multi entry"o" visa which i got in the uk,to obtain this visa i submited

a bank statement with above 10,000 pounds in the account,i am over fifty and intend to spend as much time in thailand as posible.

i have since been told by several expats that to obtain a multi entry "o"visa in the uk i do not need to produce any bank statements? when i obtained my visa the consul lady did seem a bit unsure, but who can blame her as they move the goal posts every 12 months?any advice would be helpful

cheers

Question 1 - Which consulate /embassy did you use?

Question 2 - Is your visa an 'O' or an 'O-A'?

99% of reports from using the consulate at Hull say that an absolute minimum of paperwork is needed for an 'O' visa (certainly not 10 Grand in the bank) :o

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

As of 1 January the consulate in the Netherlands asks for a bank statement showing 1250 Euro if one applies for a normal non-immigrant O based on retirement. They have been told to do so, by who I don't know.

The website of the embassy in Londen states that for a multiple non-O based on retirement one needs to show an income of 900 pound a month. Maybe 10,000 pound is the alternative of this.

Generally a multi-entry Non Imm O can be obtained in Hull, Cardiff or Birmingham without

showing any funds.

Perhaps the OP is getting confused with the need to show funds for O-A visa?

Though the figures Mario2008 quotes from the embassy in London, shows they are out of date.

There are around 50baht to a GB pound these days. :o

The Thai Embassy in London does actually say this.

Go to Hull I think.

That was right 6 months back when one pound bought 70 baht,

but not any longer. :o
