Proof Of Onward Travel

Featured Replies

I have German passport so I can enter Thailand for 30 days without visa but I understand that I would need to show ticket out of Thailand when I enter the country. The thing is that I will be travelling overland out of Thailand. I could get flight reservation but will it do or does it actually needs to be confirmed ticket? Is bus or train ticket also ok?

I was thinking about getting visa prior to arrival in Thailand but I can only do it in the Phillipines or in Myanmar and from what I read those countries are a nightmare for obtaining Thai visa.

any tips?

thanks

When you check in for your flight to Thailand they will want to see return or onward tickets.

Immigration seldom asks for them. You could check with the airline to see if they will accept bus or train ticket or allow you to sign a waiver.

To see what the airline will see what they will see when you check in. Go to this page from Delta it will connect to a IATA website. http://www.delta.com/planning_reservations...ation/index.jsp

Do you need proof of onward travel if you come in on a tourist visa?

Do you need proof of onward travel if you come in on a tourist visa?

No. Not if you have a Visa. Only required if you do not.

No

You do not need proof of onward travel for any visa you get at a consulate or embassy.

Assuming I don't have visa issued earlier by Thai consulate, can I show bus or train ticket for trip out of Thailand or does it have to be flight ticket? What about only flight reservation?

Thanks

The rule says return/onward tickets. So just a reservation will not work.

I found Air Asia BKK - KL for USD37. I'm going to go for it. I won't use the ticket but will save myself a hassle with apllying for Thai visa in the Philippines or Myanmar

Thanks for advise everyone

I am starting a new job in Malaysia next month and will be re-locting from Thailand. Can I just obtain a one way ticket on Air Asia?

My wife will be travelling with me and she is Thai so does the same apply for her?

Cheers

A visa from the Philippines or Myanmar, I don't think so. Many have reported less than satisfactory results from these two locations.

I was wondering if you had a link like this in reverse for buying a one way from U.S, to Thailand. Will they sell you the ticket

first and ask questions later at check-in ? After fooling around with NWA Thailand site for a round trip to the U.S., I discovered

that in order to buy a ticket on that site, one must be a Thailand resident (type of resident not specified) and the ticket may only be purchased with a credit card with a Thai billing address. Otherwise they send you to their regular site where the same ticket costs $300 more. I have a retirement extension and was wondering if I might encounter any problems trying to buy a one way from the U.S.

Your retirement visa extension will cover you, A one way ticket will be fine. Airlines make the rules as they go along, so give them a call first to be certain,

You could check with the airline to see if they will accept bus or train tickets or allow you to sign a waiver.

The rule says return/onward tickets. So just a reservation will not work.

The "rule" also says confirmed outbound air ticket.
