Any Good Hospitals Phuket

Featured Replies

any recommendations on good hospitals in phuket? Patong or phuket town?

In Phuket town: Bangkok Phuket Hospital, and the International Hospital at the bypass road which is far less costly but has the same quality of medical care.

If you are working in Thailand and have the compulsory health insurance, you can be treated for free (or for a token amount) at the Watchira Hospital in Phuket town. The Watchira has medical specialists in all fields, but they are very young, and work there only for a few years before moving on to a better paid job at a private hospital. Besides that the Wachira is very crowded.

Good Hospital = Private Hospital. I personally prefer the Phuket International on the bypass road, between Big C and Lotus. Many people prefer the Phuket Bangkok on Samkong road in Phuket Town, it's run like a 5 star hotel, with 5 star prices. I prefer my money to be spent on the actual medical site, and not plush surroundings. Although I have to say that Phuket Bangkok has excellent medical staff & equipment. There is a large hospital in Patong, but it's a government run hospital, with few doctors, or equipment. Only good for bandages and pills.

There have been previous threads on this subject

use the International for check ups and minor problems

TheBangkok Phuket is no more than a 4 star hotel and charges ten star prices.

If you have to have any major surgery (Heart, aneurism, etc) you should go straight to Bangkok.

To the Bumigrad Hospital .....

We used Bangkok Hospital in Phuket Town for pre and post natal care as well as for the birth of our daughter. It was great, at least as good as Singapore and one third of the cost. But I have heard that it is considered expensive in Thai terms.

Yes ,if you have insurance

My life was saved by wonderful surgeons, at The Siriraj, favoured by The King

and The King Chulalongkorn

in two major operations two years and eighteen months ago

where prices are about a third of the BP in Phuket

BP advised us to go to Hat Yai when I was seriously ill, Hat Yai could not cope and sent me to Bangkok

both trips by ambulance.Think about the distance!

My wife and son driving behind expecting the worst all the way. So

NO thanks to BP in Phuket.
