A Day We Wont Forget

Featured Replies

Me and My wife (both english) had to do a visa run on tuesday to Ranong casino.

We stopped at the services about 40kl from Chumphon, we sat drinking coffee when an English family walked in.

We were lost for words, their son and daughter were barely able to walk and were covered in bandages, the girls face was black and blue and the son was cut to pieces much like the girl.

The mother was clearly still in shock and had a bedspread wrapped round her, all they had was what they were wearing and had blood stains everywhere.

They also had a little girl with them who was about 8 years old, we were told by the mother that her parents had been lost in the wave, in fact her mother had managed to pass her to people on a roof just before the wave took her away.

They had owned a small tourist complex consisting of holiday bungalows on the beach at if i remember right Koh Lac. all was gone, including passports, money, and everything they ever owned.

They had invested over 300,000pounds on their dream lifestyle and all was lost in a second.

Seeing this my wife was in tears and i was trying to hold them back, sometimes its not until you see this sort of thing first hand that the disaster really sinks in.

To those people we met if you ever read this forum, We wish you our condolancies and pray for you all, and the little girl what can we say as we both are reduced to tears when we think of the events that took your family.

We hope everyone spares a thought not only for the dead but also for the ones who survived.

Mike and Maura.
