Laos/thai 6 Months Left On Pp Requirment

Is the 6 months left on PP requirement set in stone? I booked a nonrefundable ticket to Vientiane this Tuesday night, and realized i have 5 months left on PP. What I will try to do is contact the Laos embassy in bkk for the Laos visa, so I can try to get a 3 month TV in Vientiane, an attempt to salvage the plane ticket. Will the Thai embassy in Vientiane also require 6 months left on PP for a 3 month TV?

If that fails, it will be Jacks for 15 days, my visa expires 23rd Jan, so I will go 22nd 5am. In the mean time I will get my PP renewed at Canadian embassy starting on Monday, hopefully getting it this week, then make the trip to Vientiane.

Any other ideas?

Both Laos and Thailand require that your passport is valid for at least 6 month upon entry, so you might have a problem with both countries. The airline might also not allow you to board and the embassy might deny you a visa because of your passport.

Get a new passport.
