I am hoping that I can get some help from you guys

We are trying to find out what is the correct way forward to try and make our (hopefully one day) son have the correct papwerwork so that we can legally adopt him - he is from Mongloi - no birth certificate and no passport - an orphan etc... he is not a baby he is legally working here (has a work permit) but we would like to give him some stability in his life and for him to have a family and all the good things in life that sadly he has never had.

What do we have to do - so far we have drawn a blank! I am sure people must think we are crazy - but it is something we want to do and so we will do what ever it takes to do the correct thing for him.

Please can anyone help?

Wrong section, the family section would be the right section for your question.

Edit:

Will try to give you some information later.

My first question is, how old is he? It would make a lot of difference if he is a minor or an adult.

He is 26yrs old - all we want is for him to have a chance in life - an education and doing work that gives him a future to look forward to - that is not a lot to ask - we are willing to give him a family - the thing in it for me is that he is the son I could never have and we would be proud to call him our own - likewise all our family would welcome him with open arms - no one should be without a family to take care.

Any help would be appreciated

I believe adoption of an adult is indeed possible under Thai law.

The government agency responsibel for adoptions in Thailand is the Child Adoption Center of the Thai Department of Social Development & Welfare. They would be your first start for information. I also recommend contacting a lawyer, like isaanlawyers, specialised in family law.

Information I found sofar are all about adopting a minor. But I will try to find some more information.

I can't find information confirming that yu can adopt an adult under Thai law. better either contact forum sponsor Isaan Lawyers http://www.isaanlawyers.com or the

Child Adoption Center

Department of Social Development and Welfare (DSDW)

225 Ratchawithi Road

Bangkok 10400

Tel. (66) (2) 354-7515;

Email: [email protected]

If the birth parents of the person to adopt are not known, you will probalby have a problem adopting. From the information I have seen so far for adoption of a child it is necesarry that the birth parents consent to the adoption. Again, contact one of the above for expert legal information.
