Got an area round the back of my house (house is north facing) that I am trying to spruce up a bit.

The area I am going to plant in doesn't really get any strong direct sunlight, so I am looking to plant some plants that still thrive in the shade.

Any ideas? thanks...

Some good shade plants are Alpinias, Calatheas (very beautiful foliage on many calatheas) and Costus. Ficus, philodendron, kaempferia and schefflera also do well in shady locations.

Floridata.com is a great online resource for plants btw
