Alternatives To Penang

Featured Replies

Can anyone suggest an alternative to Penang a bit cheaper / closer place to do a Visa run (I am in BKK ) (re applying for Marriage Visa - which I already have), but was only valide for 3 months (issued in Penang). Penang is getting a bit pricey and heard rumours of other places to do the process.

And and all advice greatly appreciated!

Chris

The other alternative (for cheaper/closer) is only Vientiane.

Vientiane only gives single entry visas.

You should be able to get a multiple entry in Penang or KL but you have to show some money in a Thai bank. In Penang all good reports have been from those using an agent

Have you considered getting a 1 year extension at immigration. If you can show income of 40,000 baht per month income or 400,000 in a Thai bank accounrt for 60 days you can get it.

Thanks for the details..Looks as if I need to try Vientiane... Penang is as mentioned easy with the agent - who is very quick... I want to go for the 1 year extention, but until I can get my contract signed sealed and delivered...no... (I am a Hotelier and as many know - the economy is still suffering..)

Does anyone have the link to the thread for details on Vientiane?

Chris
