ubonjoe
No You can get an extension of stay for 1 year for retirement, marriage to a Thai, or to support a child that is Thai at immigration. You then could get a mutiple rentry permit.

Is it possible to come over on a marrige visa? I dont have a monthly income and proof of tax receipts will be hard to come by. Will a certain amount of money in a Thai bank account be enough proof for them? If so how much? I am the man with many Q's Many thanks mate. Lite Beer
There is no such thing as a Marriage Visa. You can get 12 month extensions to stay if you have 400,000 Baht in a Thai Bank. The Rule. (6) In case of marriage with a Thai lady, the husband who is an alien must have an average annual income of not less than 40,000 baht per month or a money deposit in a local Thai bank of not less than 400,000 baht for the past 2 months for expenses within a year. Lite Beer gave you an answer to your question about getting an extension. You can also prove income by getting a letter from your embassy/consulate here.If you can meet the requirements you should get a single entry non immigrant O visa based upon marriage before you travel to Thailand. You will only need a copy of your marriage certificate and your wifes ID or Passsport. Having a non-o will make it much easier to get the extension and you will have 90 days to apply. If you can't meet the requirements for an extension you should get a multiple entry visa.
