Differences In School Program Between Thailand And Your Home Country.

Hi,

My daughter is almost ending P1 at a Thai school with English program.

I received at the beginning of the school year, a list with all the programs she will be learning.

I have also a grandson living in my home country, and I know everything about his school program abroad.

Except from the language(s), there are many differences between the Thai program and the program in my home country.

For example, my grandson is being teached Geography and History since the first grade.

Two programs that are totally lacked in my daughters program in Thailand.

I would like to know if people with kids who went back to their home country, had any problems with the kids adapting to the learning programs in their home country.

TIA

Anything outside of Thai language, history and culture is completely ignored, or at best, a second thought in the Thai eduction system. There seems to be some emphasis on math, but the students are never taught critical thinking, so math word problems are difficult for them. Science, civics, geography and world history are almost completely outside the curriculum.

I work at one of the best government schools and asked the top M3 students "What star is closest to the earth?" Not one of them answered "the sun"!

If you love your child, you will get out of this country ASAP and send him to a REAL western school.

Or at least get him into a very expensive school here with a 100% western program.

This is a third world country, everyday you see people with lots of education and that still know nothing and cant form a tought that a 13 yo could in the west AND every single young thai person that has studied abroad as said that they were way behind.

Any recommendations for schools with 100% western program in thailand either in bangkok or Udon thani and what costs would be involved?I have an 18 month old son i may bring to Thailand with his mum who's Thai whilst i commute from the UK.I do want my child to learn thai also but i need him to learn at the same level as the kids in the UK
