Otc Pain Killers?

Featured Replies

What type of OTC pain killers can I get at the pharmacies in Phuket?

It depends on what kind of pain you need it for, physical pain: Tamadol and Tramil should be available. mental pain can be dosed with a morphine patch but obviously i am not advising you to abuse pain medication even if it is legal.

All opiates (inc.codeine, morphine etc) are copntrolled substances and not legal to sell otc.

A wide range of NSAIDs are available. They are quite effective but be sure to take with food as can irritate the stomach, and don't take at all if any history of bleeding disorder or if you have an ulcer.

I am unsure of the status of tramadol (i.e. if legit to sell OTC).

Tramadol seems pretty readily available over the counter in most Thai pharmacies.

A combo of Tylenol / Codeine pills used to be for sale over the counter but now you need to get them from a hospital - they work pretty good for most pain issues :o

Ibuprofen 400 milligram pills are cheap and can be bought anywhere.

must treat the source of the pain or else all the pain killers in the world won't help you out.

Well said. Treat the cause not the symptom. If you have muscular issues, Norgesic is OK. It's a mix of aspirin and a muscle relaxant. Very cheap and at every pharmacy.

Please note that buying something at a pharmacy which is by law not allowed to be sold OTC is an illegal act on the part of both buyer and seller.

I don't want to do anything illegal. That's why I'm wondering. Is it still ok to buy i.e Tramadol without a perscription?

Tramadol is a schedule D drug which means uit can be legally sold OTC by a licensed pharmacist

Available in multiple local brand names including Amanada, Anadol, Ammitrab, Analab, Madol, Madola, Matradol, Millidol, Modenol, Pacmadol, Paindol, Pharmadol, Ramadol, Rofy, Tamalan, Tradolgesic, Tramadil

Some peoplke seem to find it very effective, others not, varies with the individual. As with any drug, read up on side effects and contraindications. Especially worth noting that some people (a minority) have adverse mental/pyschological effects when they take it, even to the point of a temporary psychosis.

Probably most of the same meds you can get in your own country, - without a script, plus a few more. But Valium etc -only form Drs. and hospitals. In my experience here there is a reasonable attempt to control the use of pain killers OTC. Fascino is the best chain of chemists in Thailand, and their staff are usually very helpful for genuine customers, and will give you generic versions if available.
