Posting this question for a veit vet who is not so computer savy. He wants to know if he can change his retirement visa based on income of 65k baht a month. He is married and has been extendending his non imm o visa for a number of years. He finds it a pain to have to go back after 90 days to pick up the visa and having to provide marital photo's etc, so wants to change it to the extension based on 800k in the bank. All you have to do for this is fill in TM7 and turn up with bank book and bank letter, far easier for him. So can this be done or is their some stupid rule making you stick with the one you started out with?

The rule just that it is 65,000 a month or 800,000 in the bank for 3 monhts or a combination of both. In the last case the money in the bank doesn't have to be their for 3 months. He can use any of this methods for his extension, he doesn't have to stick to the method he originaly applied.

Edit: combination most always total 800,000.

Your post got me a little confused at first when you mentioned the 65,000 baht income because marriage only requires 40,000.

If he can prove income of 65K or more he can use that for a retirement extension. The 800K in the bank is not the only option.

He can change to a retirement extension without any problem. In fact immigration would prefer he did that because it is less work for them.

Yes. These are the financial requirements. As said he can change it every year if he wants to.

(1) The alien has obtained a temporary visa (NON-IM);

(2) The applicant is 50 years of age or over;

(3) Proof of income of not less than Baht 65,000 per month; or

(4) Account deposit with a bank in Thailand of not less than

800,000 Baht as shown in the bank account for the past 3 months at the filing date of the application. For the first year, the applicant should have that amount in his bank account for not less than 60 days or

(5) Annual income plus bank account deposit totaling not less

Many thanks, I don't know why some other boards slag off TV as being full of idiots with no advice, I have always found it extremely helpful and always have had great answers.
