Please Help! How 2 Burn Video Home Movie Files on PC to DVD Disc Easily? (before I go nuts!)

I am a total Technophobe, so if anyone can help me with this please, in very simple easy for a 5 year old (and thats pushing it!)

level to understand, the most basic simple way please...

Bottom Line Problem: On my PC I am trying to Burn Video Files on to a Disc ( I bought TDK DVD-R Data/Video Discs blank ones 4.7 GB each & also I have an assortment of CD-ROM Discs & DVD blank discs bought from the local Pattaya 7-11, you know the Discs most 7-11s sell.

I have tried to burn a variety of PC Video files to test out (nothing has worked!) meaning I have YouTube.com Real Player downloads, AVI DVD I copied up on the PC in the past (cannot remember how, but I do remember it was a hair tear out experience!) & the BIG ONE is I have Home Videos in various formats I want to Burn on to DVD.

I tried & 90% sure I followed all Steps with NERO Express to burn a Video File to the DVD-r 4/7 GB Disc & the thai GF tried same today, & she had a thai manual ^ still no luck.

I suspect this Video file, which a friend videoed of a Self Defense Seminar in Europe.... NERO on final step, said it should not be a DVD disc but a CD ROM Disc I should have inserted into PC. (I fail to see why this is a problem, as the instructions did not mention this & DVD-R was blank. but as a Technophobe, maybe I am missing something.

This Self Defense Seminar Home Movie Disc he sent me, which I copied on to Hard Disc & an watch perfect on the PC, has 2 folders when I open the Folder I got it stored in.

One Folder is AUDIO_TS & Other Folder VIDEO_TS (which has all the files in there. again I am not sure how to blend the 55 minute video he made & sent to me on Disc into "one" but it plays straight through when I watch it on the PC)

I think I have all the kit needed to Burn DVDs, my PC is only 6 months old & much free memory. I have NER0, & other programs & I am Downloading right now, Open Source DVD FLICK which is claimed to be simple to use, in a few easy steps, for burning any file on to DVD or Disc. I got blank DVD-R and CD ROM files.

Can any one suggest or help me out, why everything I try is just not working. (in the past in tried this a few times, with exact similar problems). People are telling me... "Oh its so easy, you can just drag n drop the video file on to the CD/DVD disc E drive etc".

Any help please especially regarding this Self Defense Krav Maga Seminar DVD One Folder is AUDIO_TS & Other Folder VIDEO_TS which I need to Burn on to DVD for a few people urgently ?

(Also preferable if i can, configure the DVD so it cannot be copied by unauthorized persons etc)

2nd Question about a VIDEO CAMERA I have, & the best method to upload filmed Self Defense stuff to the PC, edit it, & then burn it on to DVD, in a simple cheap & cheerful way?. (But to minimal quality, it can be sold for a few dollars.)

The Video Camera: Sony Digital 8 700x Digital 200 Optical 25X - DCR-TRV240 camera.

(This Model SONY DCR-TRV240 DOES NOT work with a Memory Stick) so it records on tape. & I have been filming stuff to test this out using, SONY Hi8MP 120videoHi8 (60 Digital 8) little cartridge Video Tapes, That Inserts into the SONY DCR-TRV240 Camera.

If I film various segments of say a self defense seminar (which would have people moving fast & quick),

with the SONY DCR-TRV240 on to the Hi8MP Video Tape... What is the Best Way to Upload this on to the PC?

Software I got with the SONY DCR-TRV240 Camera is Ulead Video Studio 6 & also Pinnacle Studio Movie Making Software but of which I installed on to the PC.

Essentially, I know I have to figure out both or one of these software programs to Edit & put the Stuff I filmed into

order etc. (which I am sure will be another days headache! LOL).

Does anyone know which of these Home Movie Making Software is easier to use? (for a techno dummie).

Remember, my end goal, is to make the Filmed material, into a format, I can easily BURN on to a DVD Disc (prefer if I can protect, or security lock the eventual DVD from copying. if not too complicated). & I want to find a simple as possible way of doing this, while maintaining a quality of DVD, that looks sharp enough, it can be sent to a potential corporate customer as a sampler or sold for a few bucks.

Any insight, or advice into the 2nd question, would be greatly appreciated too.

Tonight the Number 1 project is figuring out how to Burn PC Video files asap fast on to a DVD. so that's the main issue I need a bit of advice on ASAP please?

Thanks You in Advance for Any Help. Gratefully Appreciated. (Or I will jump off View Taley Condo Block! LOL!)

As a matter of interest, I contacted a Pattaya Video Production Business, re making a simple, Martial Arts (How to )

video, get it videoed , edited etc. A very simple basic job, since I have the Martial Arts Video Planned Out already in Segments, Scripted as such, & I do this stuff week in week anyway teaching people Krav Maga & I know exactly what I want to do, & have as an end product. So basically I wanted to hire someone to do a sharp but simple quick film me & edit it, & I was quoted 35,000 Baht! (I tried to explain, it was not a low budget early 1970s B KUNG <deleted> Movie I was making. & would not require much more than a Video man, who could get it done quick, as I know part etc & can do quick etc,. & then do a simple, quick edit & tidy up, a master for me.) 35,000 B! I was quoted cheaper in Dublin in 2005 for a more full on film & edit by a video co in Dublin.

**Can anyone give me a ball park, on the cost/price get budget cut to bone, of getting the above done?

No harm to the Pattaya Video Co, I contacted who were 35,000 B for the "production", but I notice in general in several countries when asking quotes of Video Filmers, a simple booking to get a guy to hold a camera for a few hours who has a bit of experience & then do a simple efficient edit , package it up. They tend to turn everything into a "Hollywood Style" Production, feel they have "artistic license" & then get all womanish & thick, when you point out that is not the service that is required. :-)

Any help on original issues above or insights on my ramblings at the bottom would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Gerry

If you already have the disc your friend sent to you, why don't you just copy the disc?

You quite possibly don't have a full version of Nero, so you only have the ability to create Video CD(as opposed to DVD Video).

DVD Flick will do some of the work(creating a DVD out of .avi files for example).

Once you have the full version of Nero(including NeroVision Express), you can upload the content via iLink, also known as FireWire directly to NeroVision Express or DVD Flick. You can edit using the Nero Package before burning to DVD.

Do you have a Firewire connection on your computer? If not, consider having one fitted. Will only be a few hundred baht.

I will send you a trial version of Nero to your Private Message box. Once your receive it you can uninstall your current version.

Forget about protecting the DVD from being copied. Can't be done reliably.
