Nickthegreek Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Hi, I know its almost impossible to diagnose everything but hoping this may sound familiar. I have a Yamaha Virago 750 and when I turn on the main the lights the right indicator also comes on. Plus if I plug in the rear light thats stays on all the time and break light not working, the bike has been modified Thai style in past years. I am thinking its either a short or the coil. Any advice welcomed. Thanks
thaicbr Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Thats defo Thai style electrics. it's a short or more. Where are you located? your going to have to find a decent mechanic.
ajahnlau Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Use a good local electrician. Just cut the old wires and run new.

timi2546 Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 Hi,I know its almost impossible to diagnose everything but hoping this may sound familiar. I have a Yamaha Virago 750 and when I turn on the main the lights the right indicator also comes on. hi there. u have to unplug the indicator's wires off, and check where the wires come from relay. not difficult. usually there are some connectors that can connect totally wrong, so i think your problem is only about that. Plus if I plug in the rear light thats stays on all the time and break light not working, the bike has been modified Thai style in past years. I am thinking its either a short or the coil. //// have u checked does the brakepedal;s switch really works, usually it get rusty very easily. some sandpaper and it will be better than new one.almost :D 10 mins with correct meter and u are wiser, and maybe dont have to waste money for repairmen.
Lickey Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Most likely an earthing problem, check all the black wires {black i think Yam } are grounded corectly, and are clean on contact. Lickey..
Nickthegreek Posted February 15, 2009 Author Posted February 15, 2009 Guys, Thanks a bunch, gives me a good direction for the morning.... Happy Days...
Gary A Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Most likely an earthing problem, check all the black wires {black i think Yam } are grounded corectly, and are clean on contact. Lickey.. I agree with Licky, most problems of that kind are caused by bad grounds. Extra ground wires are safe and easy to run. Working with the wire harness is not a safe thing to do for an amateur.
Nickthegreek Posted February 16, 2009 Author Posted February 16, 2009 Hi Guys, Thanks all for the good advice.!!! I changed the brake switch as it was worn and thats ok now and there must have been a loose wire,as having tightened everything and checked it over, alls ok now... total cost 125 baht... Thanks..
